When You Feel Stuck On Your Fitness Journey

At the beginning of a fitness journey, we are always so pumped because we believe that we have it all covered and figured out. We have a list of things and tasks that we hope to stick to in order to reach the goals that we set for ourselves. But sometimes, the problem is the list. Yes, that list that looks so perfect? That is the problem. Here, I talked about perfection on your weight loss journey. But I am addressing what you may be doing wrong and that keeps you stuck on your weight loss journey.

Eliminating ALL carbs. Carbs are not your enemies. In fact, they are the primary source of energy for our brain and body, and being worth 4 calories as protein, they are equally important macronutrients in your diet. Instead of removing them from your diet, focus on being on a calorie deficit because that is what would get you to lose fat.

Thinking that fruit makes you fat. Most fruits are good for you because they are loaded with nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, etc. Fruit is not the problem. What makes you fat is eating more than you need and moving less than should. Instead of avoiding fruit, eat more quality protein. Protein helps your muscle repair themselves after exercising and therefore grow. It also helps keep you full longer.

Finding the best diet. Ok. Stop right there. There is no one-diet-fits-all. What works for some people will not work for other people. This means that the best diet is the one that works for you, one that you can stick to and do enjoy, whichever it is. Also, no diet is better than the other. The reason why people achieve weight/fat loss on most diets is because said diets put them in a calorie deficit. Whichever the diet that you follow, make sure that you also add quality sleep to your regimen.

Fat burners and quick fixes. Fat burners are supplements, and supplements are things that you add to your diet because you cannot get them from your nutrition in most cases. You add them to your diet, you do not replace anything with them. So, if your nutrition is poor fat burners are not going to help you lose weight/fat. These are supplements to add – if you choose to – in an already proper diet. But they are not necessary for weight loss. Instead, drink plenty of water.

Finding the best exercise. There is a plethora of exercises and you do not need all of them. the exercises that you need depend on the goals that you are working toward, but for weight loss, focus on being physically active rather than looking for the best exercise. Why? Because like with diets, there is no one-exercise-fits-all. Do what you enjoy doing and keep yourself accountable.
