Delicious, Creamy High Protein Avocado Cucumber Smoothie

A flat lay of healthy smoothie ingredients: half a cucumber, one cup of coconut milk, half a teaspoon of spirulina, one scoop of protein powder, and half an avocado, neatly arranged on a wooden surface.

At Beasts Train Mean we love smoothies so much, and this is a green smoothie that we enjoy all the time, an avocado smoothie made with cucumber. You are probably wondering what gives it that dark green color, and no, it is not dye! In fact, the “secret” ingredient is spirulina.

Some benefits of cucumbers include hydration as they’re made of mostly water and electrolytes; vitamins K and D that respectfully improve calcium absorption, and bone health.

Some benefits of avocado include beta-sitosterol, which helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels; vitamin K, folate, which may help decrease the risk of depression as it helps prevent the buildup of homocysteine, which can impair circulation and delivery of nutrients to the brain.

What about spirulina? It is high in nutrients such as vitamins B1, B2, and B3, and iron. This alga also helps lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL), also known as “bad” cholesterol, levels, and helps raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL) – “good” cholesterol levels.

INGREDIENTS:

For 1 serving

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Peel the avocado and put it in the blender.
  2. Cut the cucumber in smaller pieces to make it easy to bend and add them in the blender.
  3. Add in the coconut milk.
  4. Blend all tree ingredients, and as the blender is still running, add in the spirulina, and then the protein powder slowly. When the mixture looks creamy, stop the blender.
  5. Serve, and enjoy!

The reason why we put the protein powder and spirulina at the end is to avoid lumps and deposits on the walls of the blender.
